We had a wonderful Easter weekend this year. Ryan was scheduled to work and ended up being fairly busy but we tried to make the most out of our time together and at home that weekend.
That Saturday morning I gave the kids the assignment of making a picture that reminded them of Easter |
Harrison- "Jesus in the tomb." |
"The tomb is empty!" |
James's artwork. I asked him why he didn't draw Jesus since he drew the crown of thorns and he said that was too much work. He by no means loves to draw. |
Our plan was after Ryan finished at the hospital that morning we were going to a neighborhood egg hunt. I made the mistake (yet again) of telling the kids this was the plan. 15 minutes before it was time to go Ryan got paged. I ended up taking all the kids by myself. In case anyone was wondering, not a good idea lol. We had to park so far away, we barely made it in time, the hunts were divided by age but at the same time so I couldn't even see James and Harrison, A and K both had major meltdowns, and this was all in front of basically everyone who knows us in New Bern. I was one mess of a mama!
One of the other mamas sent me several pictures of J and H which was so thoughtful |
Candy! |

Man on a mission |
When the hunt was over we were in a long line for a picture of the Easter bunny. Why we even attempted this I do not know. It was finally our turn and A and K both lost it. One of them kept getting down and running away and then they would switch places and the other would run off. Finally I looked at the bunny and said "You have got to just hold them tighter because we are getting this picture!" We provided great entertainment for the long line of people also waiting. Back to our family motto- "if you are not miserable you aren't making memories." :)

Checking out all the goodies |
We finally made the long walk back to the car and realized that Kate's Easter basket was missing. So we had to turn around and go back. We got home and I stuck A and K in their cribs for naps, handed J and H the ipads and I crawled under the covers for a nap! |
Thankfully a couple of hours later Ryan came home, Nana and Pop arrived and shortly after the Fincannon crew made it!
Nana brought several fun activities. First project was painting crosses. All of the kids enjoyed this, especially Kate and Harrison. |
New bubbles! |
Everyone was excited to see baby Margaret! (and Whitney of course) |
Ryan had the idea to put out the water slide minus the water. It was a hit! |
Time to get ready for the egg hunt |
Kate was pretty interested in Margaret's bonnet |
All of the cousins were pretty obsessed with her actually! |
pure sweetness! |
Ryan volunteered to sit out the egg hunt so he could hang with Mags (that's his special nickname for her) |
I love this kid. He was genuinely surprised and thrilled that yet again the egg had candy inside! |
Miss Priss had a meltdown but Nana convinced her to come participate. |

Each child was looking for the eggs with their particular sticker. Needless to say Andrew was clueless. James was so sweet and kept trying to keep him on track! |
Time for a little baseball |
And a group photo! |
We had a cook out for dinner and Whitney who knows my love of funfetti cake and rainbow chip icing made us these delicious cupcakes. |
Somehow Margaret fell asleep during the dinner chaos! I guess all the fun wore her out. |
