July Misc

We are in full fledged summer mode around here! I gave myself the challenge this summer to only look the summer from a week by week perspective because I felt overwhelmed by the big picture (14 and a half weeks of no preschool lol). Thankfully we are making it and have had so many great memories together.
Almost every single summer activity in this town requires you to be three BUT there is one sweet preschool who offers a morning camp a couple of times.  Andrew and Kate loved the art camp!

Fun dinner meet up with these ladies!

I have been doing a women's bible study at another church and all of the kids loved the kids' program that went along with it.  My bible study was the neatest format: workout for 45 mins, brunch, and then an hour of study.  This morning I volunteered to bring the donuts much to the delight of my kiddos.

We had one morning where the temps were unseasonably cold (like mid 60's).  I don't know which was funnier: that A and K insisted on wearing their Patagonia fleece jackets or that they felt the need to sit in the sandbox to play.

We sent our friend Madeline a care package and this was Harrison's drawing of her climbing a mountain.  I don't think art is going to be his talent but it was a work of love for sure.

On the way to the post office to mail the package Kate insisted on wearing James's sock on one hand and carrying her phone in the other.

UPS didn't know what hit them

After that adventure I decided I needed coffee and the kids ended up with a cake pop

We also managed to squeeze in a hair cut for Andrew and Mr. Buddy cut his curls off 😭

At least he is still cute but he won't be going back there any time soon

I went to get my shoes one morning and found a nice pile of sand that someone decided to dump there. No one was willing to confess.

Ryan and I snuck away for a beach weekend without the kiddos.

It was AMAZING

After hearing about my sunrise walk with A and K Ryan convinced me to wake up at dawn and go watch the sunrise with him on the beach. I was convinced he was crazy; why would we get up that early on a day we didn't have our kids?!?!  However it was beautiful and so special!

Afterwards we got straight on the boat and went for a ride. We saw almost no one on the water that early.

Later that morning we went for brunch at one of our favorite places. Best of all was going back to the beach house and being able to take a nap!

I love love love being at the beach with the kids but it is so nice to get to go and relax every now and then.

Our church did VBS and A and K thought they were supposed to join in

I was a volunteer and had to dress up but the outfit I chose just made me look like I was about to be wheeled into surgery!

"Hey mom look! I built the ark of the covenant out of legos. Inside I put mana, the 10 commandments and Moses's staff"

Apparently the wearing of socks on hands was not a one time wonder.

James and I sneaked out of the house after everyone else was in bed for a froyo date

Apparently I am married to the most famous urologist in town

Kathleen flew into NC and we had a quick girls' weekend. It may have been less than 48 hours together but we made the best of it!

We ordered room service one night and literally ate in our beds. So amazing!

When can we plan our next one???

Someone is all ready for kindergarten!

Harrison gets up SO early.  He is well trained to not come out until the right time but sometimes I wonder how long he is just hanging out in there.  This morning Ryan was driving away and caught him peeking out.

Our crazy crew. Why is someone always not wearing clothes???

Cooking camp was a summer highlight!

Harrison also went and had a blast. Or at least as much fun as Harrison ever has lol.

Harrison had been begging to make homemade cinnamon applesauce. Can you believe we went through all that trouble and then I burned it on the stove? #momfail

"Mom I drew a Mario guy on this cross instead of anything about Jesus because that's just what I wanted to do and I didn't even get into trouble."

Harrison and I had a special afternoon together at the beach

I was excited to visit with Ashley and her sweet family

We stopped at a local restaurant for a seafood dinner

He was so excited about his fried shrimp lol.

A calm moment at the Holland house

Why wear one headband when you could wear four?
