Easter 2014

Easter has been a holiday where we have done all sorts of things during our time in residency.  The first year Ryan was on overnight weekend call so I went to church alone and then brought him a sub from Subway and ate with him in the call room. Not your typical Easter lunch! Another year while he was working I took James home to celebrate in NC.  Last year we were both in NC while job hunting.  This year we were in Shreveport but he actually wasn't working. It was nice to get to spend some time with just our little family but to quote Ryan, "This is hopefully the last holiday that we will have to spend alone and lonely for many years to come."

Harrison and I started Easter with him being up at 3:30 for the day.  Please child learn to sleep. You are wearing your Mama out!  I didn't get very many pictures of the kids and their Easter baskets because I was delirious from exhaustion.

We don't believe in doing big gifts for Easter. I need to figure out what to tell the kids because soon they are going to notice. A lot of kids get more from the Easter bunny than my kids get for Christmas!
We attempted to get some photos before church.

The only one where both kids are kind of looking

Harrison decided that he REALLY needed to taste the flowers...
After church we played on the playground and then went out for Chinese.  Once again not your typical Easter cuisine!

Selfie at the church
I tried to get a picture of the kids beside the pretty cross. James kept doing this with his arms. When I tried to convince him to put his arms down and smile pretty he said, "Mommy, I'm trying to be like Jesus on the cross!"

We always request a table by the fish tank
I really wanted to get a picture of James and his Easter bucket (Which was $2.50 at Target. One day they will get real baskets)
This was the outfit James wore in David and Greer's wedding. I had to get at least one more wear out of it.  We agreed that this was the last time for knee socks. :)

Typical James when I asked him to do one picture not being silly.

And then he started doing a silly, strange dance.

Silly boy!

And then the opposite extreme: a very serious bunny who does not see the humor in being a part of our family, lol.

That afternoon we played outside and then had the on-call resident and his family over to grill out.  It ended up being a really fun afternoon!

Let me kiss those cheeks!

Perfect afternoon for play doh

Before long both boys were looking like this! At least they were happy and content.
